How it works.
Every note, deck and paper is filed to the it covers, so the app can show what you have covered, grade your papers on the board’s boundaries, and plan the hours you have left.
01
Every piece of work lands on a spec point.
So you revise the points you are losing marks on, not the ones you already know.
1 of 5
Catalysts, 4.6.1.4.
One of the 125 points in AQA GCSE Chemistry. Every point starts with nothing on it.
Never touched
2 of 5
You link a note and a deck to it.
Now there’s something on it. But making notes and cards isn’t the same as getting the marks, so it isn’t tested yet.
Not tested yet
3 of 5
A paper question on it: 1 of 4.
Log a paper question by question and each mark goes to the points that question tests. Under half the marks means losing marks, and the question goes on your re-attempt list.
Losing marks
4 of 5
Two more papers: 6 of 6, then 5 of 5.
That’s 12 of 15 across three papers. It still isn’t solid, because the question you got wrong is waiting to come back.
Getting there
5 of 5
You get that question right twice.
It comes off the list. Most of the marks, nothing outstanding: solid. That’s one point. The app does this for every point on the spec.
Solid
02
So the gaps are plain to see.
So nothing on the specification is missed by accident.

When the app suggests a link, you see the suggestion, but the dot doesn’t move until you say yes. A guess never turns a point green.
With an account, your notes, cards, papers and marks sync between your devices.
03
Your papers say where you stand.
So the grade you are heading for comes from your papers, on the board’s own boundaries.

Which exams?
Every system gets the same app: notes, flashcards, a plan, timed sessions and asterisk ai. , past papers and grade boundaries come from the boards that publish them, so the exam data behind a subject depends on where you sit it. This is what there is today.

Built on how memory works.
Rereading feels like revision. These are the methods that make it stick, and the app does them for you.
01Spaced repetition
Each card comes back just before you would forget it.
Each flashcard comes back after a longer gap every time you remember it, and its last review lands before your exam, not after it.
The best gap between reviews grows with how long you need to remember something. Cepeda, Vul, Rohrer, Wixted & Pashler, Psychological Science, 2008
02Retrieval practice
You pull the answer out of your head, instead of rereading it.
Flashcards, timed papers and marked answers make you produce the answer instead of rereading it. A question you got wrong comes back to try again.
Students who tested themselves remembered more a week later than students who spent the same time restudying. Roediger & Karpicke, Psychological Science, 2006
03Interleavingpro and max
Your days mix subjects, the way the exam season will.
The plan mixes subjects across each day, so one subject does not follow itself where another can go between.
Practice that mixed different kinds of maths problem led to much higher scores on a test a week later than practice done in blocks. Rohrer & Taylor, Instructional Science, 2007
04A model of forgettingpro and max
The plan knows which topics are fading, and brings them back.
The plan estimates how each topic fades since you last worked on it, using the forgetting curve from FSRS, an open-source scheduler fitted to real review data.
Memory fades fast at first and then more slowly: the forgetting curve Ebbinghaus measured in 1885, replicated in 2015. Murre & Dros, PLOS ONE, 2015

For parents and teachers.
What they see is the record: hours, papers and grades, never notes or messages.
- A weekly email
- On pro and max, if your child turns it on, one email goes each Sunday to your address: hours by subject, the papers they logged and the grades those papers reached. Never their notes or messages.
- A report for a tutor
- Also on pro and max: a read-only link your child can send a tutor, with grade bands, weak topics, recent wrong answers and where marks were lost. It stops after 30 days, or sooner if they turn it off.
- Paying
- Plans are optional. A 13 to 17 year old can pay with their own card, or send you a link to pay from your own email address, with no account of your own.
- Safety
- Every message to asterisk ai is checked for self-harm, abuse and eating-disorder language before any reply. When the check fires, no reply is sent and helplines are shown instead. It works on words and is verified in English only.
- A class code
- Make a class and give students its code. Any adult with a confirmed email address can; there is nothing to apply for.
- Set work
- Set the class a flashcard deck or a past paper from the index, and see who has done it and who has not, by first name.
- The class report
- Hours and papers across the class, from what students have logged. No messages, no profiles, nothing a student typed.
